Traditional Chinese Medicine

The roots of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) date back more than 2000 years. Its rich history tells of the many influences on its development, including the Japanese, Europeans, and the Communist revolution. The changes that followed these influences explain why both terms--Traditional Chinese Medicine and Traditional Oriental Medicine (TOM)--are seen in the literature. Although these two terms are sometimes used interchangeably, TOM generally refers to the system of Chinese medicine practiced until the early 1900s.
Before western medicine had been brought in modern China, the Chinese people knew only one system of medicine; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). With a practiced history as long as the Chinese civilization itself, this was the sole means of treatment for countless people and generations. Its tried and true methods are found at the core of our modern treatment principals. The using of Chinese medicine is the treasure of our traditional culture. With a history of 2000 to 3000 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has formed a unique system to diagnose and cure illness. The TCM approach is fundamentally different from that of Western medicine. In TCM, the understanding of the human body is based on the holistic understanding of the universe as described in Daoism, and the treatment of illness is based primarily on the diagnosis and differentiation of syndromes.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a comprehensive system of medicine based on thousands of years of knowledge and understanding of the human body and mind. It joins the power of acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and energetic exercises to right imbalances found in the body. This not only allows the body to heal itself but also prevents further illness from starting. It is accepted around the globe as a safe, effective and holistic complement to conventional western medicine.
